May 13, 2024
Dear CISD Community,
As previously stated, I will continue to share updates after the Budget Workshops as part of our commitment to transparency and engagement throughout the budget planning process to address the fiscal challenges facing our district. We also will continue to share our Board Briefs summaries after each Board Meeting on our website and in our weekly Informed newsletter.
During tonight’s Workshop, Trustees discussed several topics, including options for a decision calendar if the Board decides to close a school or make any other major decision affecting a program or a district facility. As a reminder, no schools are closing for the 2024-2025 school year.
After discussing options, the Board agreed on a timeline where action would be taken on a final decision at the September 30, 2024 Board Meeting.
Trustees also heard updates and discussed the following topics tonight:
In addition to the topics above, the Board approved an Order Declaring the Results of the Trustee General Election held on May 4, 2024, with the following results:
Place 6 Total Votes 3525 Votes
Nichole Bentley — 2878 Votes
Eneida Padró — 647 Votes
Place 7 2995 Votes
Jobby Mathew — 2995 Votes
You can review tonight’s presentation at https://5il.co/2ljab, the Board Briefs at www.coppellisd.com/boardbriefs and the video from tonight’s Workshop, which should be available in the morning, at www.coppellisd.com/o/cisd/page/board-meeting-video.
Details on our budget and budget planning process are available at www.coppellisd.com/budget. We also have a Frequently Asked Questions page on the budget available at www.coppellisd.com/o/cisd/page/budget-challenges-faq. As a reminder, the community can share budget questions or feedback via email at input@coppellisd.com.
I would like to remind our community again, that all Board Workshops and Board Meetings held during June and July will be in the Large Group Instruction (LGI) room at Coppell Middle School West. The board room at the Vonita White Administration Building will be closed for those two months for a refresh that is part of the voter-approved 2023 Bond.
Thank you for your ongoing support and commitment to our district.
Sincerely,
Dr. Brad Hunt
Superintendent
Coppell Independent School District
