On Oct. 22, Coppell Middle School North was formally presented with the 2024 Middle School Principal STEM Award, receiving grant funds of $8,000 to enhance its Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) programs. The initiative, launched by the Region 10 Educational Service Center in collaboration with the Communities Foundation of Texas, Educate Texas and local STEM professionals, recognizes schools demonstrating excellence in STEM education. CMS North earned this prestigious accolade through its impressive performance in the 2023-2024 Science and Algebra I STAAR scores, particularly among high-need STEM populations, including female, African American and Hispanic students.

The data analysis conducted by Region 10 ESC revealed that CMS North stood out among suburban schools for its innovative teaching methods and commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment. The grant will support the school's ongoing efforts to promote creativity, problem-solving skills, and a passion for technology and science among its students.

During the presentation, Region 10 ESC Board Member Eric Reeves formally shared the grant with CMS North Principal Chris Gollner and former Principal Dr. Greg Axelson, who now serves as the principal of CHS9, along with CISD Superintendent Dr. Brad Hunt and North math and science teachers Jaimie Graves, Angela Guemmer, Delaney Greer, Lauri Larson and Kelly Strey.
