As a fantastic final curtain call for CISD’s incredible 2023-2024 theatre students, the 9 to 5 stage management team, led by New Tech High @ Coppell Class of 2024 Valedictorian Sarah Myers, earned the prestigious Broadway Dallas Outstanding Stage Management Award on May 25. In addition, fellow New Tech '24 graduate Lily Hess, shown left, received the Broadway Dallas Theatre Ambassador Scholarship at the event. It was a great day for the Cowboy Theatre Company. Bravo!

More than 160 Pre-K/Early Childhood families participated in the third annual CISD Early Childhood/Pre-K Fair at the Life Safety Park in Coppell on May 31. Sponsors for the fair were: Apara Autism Centers Lewisville Brazos Creative Championship Martial Arts Cook Learn Grow Gymboree Play & Music of Southlake Little Spurs Pediatric Urgent Care School of Rock Coppell Surpass Chiropractic and Coppell Family YMCA. Fair participants engaged with district diagnosticians for assessments, received information on Child Nutrition Services, received information from Pre-K Elementary Schools, learned about the curriculum, practiced getting on and off a bus, and more.

Super Speller Sriya Gomatam Among the Best in the U.S. at Scripps National Spelling Bee We are P-R-O-U-D of Sriya Gomatam, who just completed 8th grade at Coppell Middle School North, for tying for 22nd place in the country in the Scripps National Spelling Bee on May 29 before being eliminated in the sixth round of the competition. This is Gomatam’s second consecutive year to qualify for the National Scripps Spelling Bee, after placing as 1st runner up in the Dallas Regional Spelling Bee and 1st in the CISD Spelling Bee. Cottonwood Creek, Denton Creek, Lakeside, Richard J. Lee, Valley Ranch and Wilson Elementary Schools are 2024 recipients of the Texas Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association (TEPSA) Student Leadership Award. Last weekend, state qualifiers from CHS9 and CHS participated in the 2024 State VASE (Visual Arts Scholastic Event) in San Marcos. These students had the opportunity to participate in workshops and their art was displayed along with the top 10% of the 33,000 Regional VASE entries. The artwork went through the state-level round of judging, and we are excited to announce that our CHS9 and CHS students did fantastic at the state level and earned multiple State medals and one Gold Seal! Only 7% of total Regional entries are awarded a Gold Seal — the top award at the event. #CISDMissionPossible

The last weekend in April marked a triumphant moment for the Audio Video Production program (FUZE) at New Tech High @ Coppell, as three of its films graced the screens of the Dallas International Film Festival High School Showcase. Among the selected works were "Chasing Colors" by Jackson Perkins, Ian Lira, and Grace Rothey, "Seconds Back" by Sophia Ninan, Navnee Raval, Hippolyte Verhamme, Ananya Pilla, Umar Mohammed, and Muheb Siddique, and "Day 107" by Neemay Shah, Alfredo Carnera, Rhett Martin, and Sarayu Ram. These talented students not only had the honor of showcasing their films but also actively engaged in a filmmaker Q&A session and adorned the prestigious DIFF red carpet, capturing memories to cherish for a lifetime. The FUZE adviser is Kaleb Broadstreet. FUZE is a Career and Technical Education (CTE) program of study in the Arts, A/V Technology and Communications (AAVTC) Career Cluster.
