District Committees

The Coppell Independent School District prides itself in partnering with all stakeholders. The district has several annual standing committees and also forms committees for district initiatives throughout the year. 
Interested in serving on a committee in CISD?
CISD has opportunities for parents or guardians, community members and business owners, to be engaged through various committees. If you are interested in serving, please submit your information. CISD will contact those interested, as the need arises.

Strategic Planning Implementation Teams

Coppell ISD launched a strategic planning process beginning in the fall of 2023. This process developed a long-range plan for academics, fine arts, athletics, extracurriculars in alignment with the district's mission and core values. The Strategic Plan will complement the 2023 Bond program connecting the facility updates and the teaching, learning and administrative needs of the district. 

Coppell ISD is looking for parents, community members and staff to serve in various roles on the Strategic Planning Implementation Teams. You can apply by filling out the committee application on this page. Applications are due by 4 pm on April 16.

Bond Oversight Committee

The Bond Oversight Committee ('the Committee') will serve in an advisory capacity to the CISD School Board and Administration to ensure project work remains faithful to the priorities and planning of the Bond Steering Committee.

District Educational Improvement Committee (DEIC)

Under provisions of the Texas education code, every school district is required to develop a district plan to improve student performance. Coppell ISD utilizes a collaborative planning process including community and staff input to develop the district’s education plan. District and campus plans are developed annually to be mutually supportive of the state goals and objectives under Education Code, Chapter 4.
In Coppell ISD, the planning team is known as the District Educational Improvement Committee (DEIC) and the plan, aligned with the district’s five-year Strategic Plan, is known as the District Improvement Plan (DIP). The Board of Trustees for the district oversees the meeting procedures of the District-level planning and decision-making committee and annually approves their plan recommendations. 
This committee is in charge of recommendations such as curriculum, calendar, and district programs.

School Healthy Advisory Council (SHAC)

The CISD SHAC is a group of individuals representing segments of the community, appointed by the school district to provide advice to the district on coordinated school health programming and its impact on student health and learning. SHAC provides an efficient, effective structure for creating and implementing age-appropriate, sequential health education programs, and early intervention and prevention strategies that can easily be supported by local families and community stakeholders.

Every independent school system is required by law to have a School District Health Advisory Council; of which the majority of members must be parents who are not employed by the school district. Go to Title 2, Chapter 28, Section 28.004 of the Texas Education Code to read the specifics of this mandate.

Emergent Bilingual Advisory Council

The Coppell ISD ESL/Bilingual Advisory Committee is made up of parents, district educators, district administrators, community members, and other stakeholders who have an interest in the language programs in Coppell ISD for Emergent Bilingual learners. There will be 2-3 after school/evening meetings. Please complete the form if you are interested in participating/contributing to the 2024-2025 Coppell ISD ESL/Bilingual Advisory Committee.   The meetings will be 5:30 - 7:00 pm - September 24, 2024 and March 25, 2025.  For more questions, contact Dr. Anita de la Isla at adelaisla@coppellisd.com.

iLead

iLead is a leadership training series for interested parents and community members looking to become informed leaders and advocates for our students. Participants will gain insight into the operations of the CISD, as well as learn about our curriculum framework and community engagement opportunities.

CBAS Advisory Council

Coppell ISD has a Community-Based Accountability System (CBAS) Advisory Council that works with the district to provide feedback regarding accountability in Coppell ISD. The CBAS Advisory Council is made up of parents, students, community and staff members. 

Coppell ISD believes in a Community Accountability Based System (CBAS) to measure growth and identify opportunities for improvement. CBAS matters, because it means our community, which includes our staff, our students and their families, our businesses, and our community members share in the development and analysis of the system that holds the district accountable. The CBAS system is from our community and for our community. 

CBAS allows CISD to share, through a holistic view, with all of our stakeholders that CISD is producing future-ready learners. In Texas, our schools and our students are rated based on one test score and one day through the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR). We believe STAAR tests do not give a complete picture of Coppell ISD, our students, our schools or any schools in Texas for that matter.

It is the purpose of the Coppell ISD Safety and Security Committee to collectively engage staff, students, and community members in developing a safe working and learning environment, so that great teaching and authentic relationships can occur.

Intervention Services Parent Advisory Committee (ISPAC) 

Intervention Services Parent Advisory Committee is composed of parents, CISD staff and members of the community. This committee will address growth and initiatives for Special Education, Section 504, Early Childhood and Dyslexia Services in order to guide our efforts in supporting learners with unique and diverse needs. The committee meets in the fall, winter and spring.
